Affiliation Guidelines

All SIGGRAPH contributors are required to include one or more affiliations in their SIGGRAPH Information System (SIS) accounts. Affiliations can be companies, institutions, organizations, or other entities. (If you do not have an affiliation of any kind, please see below, under Independent Contributors.) Your affiliation information does not necessarily indicate how your contribution will be credited in publications or other materials. It helps SIGGRAPH determine if you have a legal or other association that we need to be aware of.

SIGGRAPH uses affiliation information to:

  • Ensure that reviewers assigned to review your work do not have conflicts of interest with you or your affiliation(s).
  • Clarify the rights-management process. For example, your affiliated organization may have a blanket permissions form that must be considered in addition to any individual rights you may grant to ACM or SIGGRAPH.

It is critically important that you provide accurate and consistent affiliation information when you submit your work.

Specifying your Affiliation

Each affiliation you add in your SIS account should be the most general, correct version of your company, institution, or organization name, without extra information such as department, branch, unit, or subsidiary. For example, if you are employed by the University of Florida, your affiliation should be: University of Florida.

You should NOT specify additional information such as: University of Florida - Department of Computer Science or University of Florida - Orlando Campus.

If you are employed by a company or other private entity, you should use only the legal company name as your affiliation.  For example, employees of the Walt Disney Company should specify: The Walt Disney Company. NOT Disney Research, Disney Feature Animation, or other departments or units.

Please be sure to search the existing SIS database for your affiliation before you add a new entry, and do not create variations on the same name. For example, Adobe employees should select Adobe Systems, and not create secondary entries for Adobe Inc. or similar names.

Independent Contributors

If you are not in any way associated with a company or other organization, you must still provide an affiliation. Please enter Self-Employed, Independent Artist, or a similar brief descriptive phrase to indicate your independent status.

Please provide only one of these values if you are operating entirely as an independent contributor. If your work is subsequently associated with an entity that you have not declared in advance, your submission could be invalidated or rejected due to conflicts of interest with the undeclared affiliation.

More Information

If you have any questions or concerns about what you should enter for your affiliation(s), please use this form to contact the appropriate SIGGRAPH 2015 program chair or Conference Administration.
