Beating Shapes Relying on Moiré Level Lines

Superposition moirés are formed by level lines of elevation profiles that are derived from original shapes. When titled, the succession of level lines gives the impression of beating shapes.

Color Imaging and Pattern Hiding on a Metallic Substrate

Using cyan, magenta, yellow, and white ink prints on a metallic substrate to reproduce color images that look bright and colorful under specular and non-specular viewing conditions. Hidden patterns are revealed, and alternating independent grayscale images are shown by simply tilting the print in front of a window.

Computational Hydrographic Printing

The first computational hydrographic printing method for physically coloring 3D objects with user-specified surface textures. The paper describes construction of a controlled hydrographic printing system from off-the-shelf hardware.
